PROBLEM STATEMENT

From our observation of lessons in the classroom, we found that:

1. Shy/weak students lack opportunities to speak as discussions are mainly dominated by more expressive students.

2. Teachers are having a hard time to keep track who has spoken and who has not, resulting in unequal speaking opportunities for some.

3. Limited feedback/evaluation to be given on students' speaking performances while in class as immediate feedback might disrupt students train of thoughts while delayed feedback might be deemed inefficient as students are unable to recall mistakes made in their spontaneous speech.

4. Lack of initiative to use English to communicate during non-face-to-face contact hours.
